Local and regional
HVAC demand spikes in a heatwave and collapses in October. We build search and paid programs that capture both halves of that year.
Market an HVAC company on two clocks. The emergency clock needs a Google Business Profile with live hours, service-area pages for every town you dispatch to, and call-only paid search that runs hot during the first freeze and the first heatwave. The renewal clock needs content and email around maintenance agreements, system age, and replacement quotes, so April and October still produce booked jobs. One is speed. One is retention.
What Is Different Here
A no-heat search is not a research session. Someone is standing in a cold house with a phone, they will call two or three companies, and the first one that answers with a same-day window gets the job. That call is decided in minutes, and it is decided by hours, distance, review count and whether the number is tappable. Rankings matter here only because they put you in the two or three.
Then there is the other business entirely. A full system replacement is a four-figure to five-figure decision a household will sit on for weeks, get three quotes on, and often finance. That buyer reads about SEER ratings, rebates and equipment brands. They compare warranties. Serving both buyers from one website means the site has to switch registers depending on which page someone lands on.
The seasonality is brutal and predictable. July and January bury the schedule. April and October empty it. Most HVAC marketing quietly fails in the shoulder months because it only ever built for the spike. The recurring maintenance agreement is what flattens that curve, and it is the asset most contractors under-market because it does not feel urgent to anyone.
What Gets In The Way
Spend that prints money during a heatwave burns cash in April. Contractors either run the same budget year round and waste it, or shut off paid search entirely and lose the map pack momentum they spent summer building. Neither works. The shoulder months need a different offer, not a smaller version of the same one.
A no-heat caller does not read your About page. If the phone rings out, the listing shows closed, or the form takes four fields before it takes a phone number, the job goes next door. Most lost HVAC revenue is not a ranking problem at all. It is a hours, dispatch and answer-rate problem the website is quietly making worse.
System replacement buyers request multiple estimates by default. Price is one input, but financing terms, warranty length, install crew and brand carry real weight. If the site says nothing about any of that, the quote arrives with no context and the decision defaults to the lowest number on the page.
Contractors dispatch across dozens of towns and end up with dozens of near identical location pages. Search engines discount them and buyers ignore them. A page that names the same three services with the town swapped in the H1 does nothing except dilute the pages that could rank.
How We Work
Peak season runs emergency intent: call extensions, same-day language, tight radius bids. Shoulder season pivots to tune-ups, maintenance plans, indoor air quality and pre-season inspections. Same brand, different offer and different keywords, so the pipeline does not go silent between the freeze and the heat.
Google Business Profile with accurate hours, service areas and job photos, plus service-area pages that carry real content: what you dispatch to that town, response windows, equipment you stock, permitting quirks. We build them on WorkspaceCMS so your team can update coverage without a developer.
Financing terms, warranty comparison, rebate eligibility and honest equipment guidance published as real pages, not a PDF. That content earns organic traffic months before the system fails, and it gives the estimator something to point at when the homeowner is comparing three quotes on a kitchen table.

If yours is not here, a free strategy call is the fastest way to get a specific answer about your market and your numbers.
Book a Free CallChange the offer, not just the budget. Emergency keywords genuinely do dry up between seasons, so bidding on them harder does nothing. Shoulder months are when tune-up promotions, maintenance agreements, duct work, indoor air quality and pre-season inspections should carry the spend. We also use those months for the slower work that pays off later: replacement guides, review generation and local content that will rank by the time the next spike arrives.
Only for towns where you genuinely do enough work to write something true about. A location page needs specifics: response window, technicians dispatched from which yard, common system types in that housing stock, permitting differences. Twelve pages with real detail outperform sixty templated ones. If you cannot write two honest paragraphs about working in that town, it should be a line on a coverage map instead of its own page.
Usually the Google Business Profile and the call path, before anything else. Accurate hours, a steady flow of recent reviews, real job photos, and a phone number that a thumb can hit in one tap. Then paid search on emergency terms during peak. Organic work on replacement and maintenance content compounds slower but it is what keeps the shoulder months alive. We do not guarantee rankings, and any provider who does is guessing.
It is often the most undersold asset an HVAC company has. It smooths the revenue curve, it puts a technician in the home twice a year, and those visits are where replacement conversations start naturally. Most contractors bury it on a pricing page. It deserves its own page, its own email sequence to past customers, and a real slot in shoulder season paid media.
